£260.00
An excellent quality example of a Roman zoomorphic brooch in the form of a lion. Cast in bronze with circular cells inlaid with red and green enamel, some of which remains. The detailing on the head has been engraved after casting, the mane picked out by two parallel ridges incised with diagonal lines. The brooch has an attractive, dark and even patina. Typically, the pin is missing.
