LARGE ROMAN ENAMELLED DISC BROOCH.

LARGE ROMAN ENAMELLED DISC BROOCH.

£295.00

An unusually large Roman enameled disc brooch dating to the 3rd or 4th century AD. The decoration consists of three concentric circles in a checkered pattern, picked out in cells of blue, white, and red enamel around a protruding central boss, with two concentric rings inlaid with vivid turquoise and orange enamel. This brooch is in exceptional condition, with just minor damage to two of the hollow, diagonal terminals. The pin missing, however, all of the original enamel is present.

Dimensions: 45 mm x 42 mm.
