A superb silver denarius of Vespasian struck in Rome in AD 70. The reverse depicts Aequitas – the personification of equality, justice and fairness. He is holding a set of scales in one hand and a rod or ‘pertica’ – a Roman unit of measurement in the other. An attractive example with a detailed portrait and subtle toning.
