MEDIEVAL HERALDIC ENAMELLED MOUNT: COAT OF ARMS. CIRCA 14TH CENTURY.
£95.00
A cast copper-alloy heraldic mount in the form of a shield bearing an unidentified coat of arms picked out in red and yellow enamel. There are areas of corrosion or concretion on the obverse which may be improved by careful cleaning. There are traces of gilding on the front, sides and unusually on the back - suggesting the back was originally visible. A fantastic little piece of British medieval history worthy of further research. Found by metal detectorist on the island of Guernsey.
Dimensions: 21 mm x 17 mm.
